An access log is a complete list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a particular website. Any file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have only one page with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for any of the six files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info that an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to write reports on the functionality of a website, in addition to the web stats your web hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting

When you purchase a cloud website hosting from us, you'll be able to choose if access logs should be created and for which domains or subdomains in your account this must be done. You'll be able to enable this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, integrated with all shared accounts. Every single domain you host or subdomain you create will be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can quickly activate or deactivate the generation of access logs independently for every website that you have. You can save a log to your PC by clicking on the Download link that you'll see inside the same exact section of the CP. The link is available even after you stop the log generation, so you'll still have access to the data compiled by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it will not take more than a few mouse clicks to permit the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The function could be permitted via the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this could be done independently for each and every domain or subdomain which you have in your account. Once you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will discover a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to every one of them. One click shall enable the log generation and another one shall deactivate it, so you can control this function with great ease. A Download link in the same section will allow you to save the generated content as a text file, that you may then use on your laptop or computer. Even if the logs are disabled, you'll still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
